I'd commit to a diet and/or exercise plan, and to start off it would feel easy!
I'd start to see the needle on the scale drop, my clothes would feel loser...
Then a few weeks in, maybe more, maybe less, I would plateau...
I'd still be doing all the things; counting the calories, doing the workouts, except that I would be starving, tired and irritable.
The diet just... didn't seem to work anymore...
I'd think "ahh, fuck it," binge... self-sabotage, whatever you want to call it...
...and the weight would pile back on.
I did that for years, until...I stopped trying to shrink my body and started learning how to support it.
I changed my approach. I stopped dieting. I ate in a way that felt good.
And the weight dropped — without even trying.
Now, I help other women do the same — in a way that’s biologically sound, mentally freeing, and actually feels good.
The classic approach to weight loss, as in the "eat less, move more" diet DOES NOT WORK.
This message has been packaged in many different forms over the years: counting calories, counting macros, weighing food, Weight Watchers, Keto, Low Carb, meal replacements, weight loss drugs, etc etc.
They might look like the work for a short time, but they DO NOT WORK long term.
Why?
It's biological.
The easy way to understand it is stress.
Low calorie diets can only be maintained as long as you manage your stress.
Because when you're trying to lose weight calories matter, BUT they're not the only thing that matter.
The Calories In Calories Out model doesn't address the root cause of weight gain, which is stress.
It only deals with the symptom, the surface level.
Does it stress you when you don’t feel good in your own skin?
Does eating as little as possible stress you out?
Does feeling starving stress you out?
Does the guilt about what you’ve just eaten stress you out?
There are also stressors that we don't even realise, like the food we eat, the way we move out bodies, how we sleep, how we talk to ourselves, etc.
So, if you want to go down the Calories In Calories Out route that means you’re going to have to get really good at battling your own body.
Do you really want to be at war with your body?
Because if you go to war that also means there’ll be collateral damage that will show up later as sickness, suffering.
Long term you’re going to have some problems.
Most weight loss programs, don’t solve the root of the problem, they just address the symptom, not the cause.
They don’t address stress, in fact they usually make the stress worse.
Which is why they don’t work long term and which is why people usually gain back a bit extra weight after a diet.
Which is why I'm able to help my clients create effortless results that last a lifetime, and NOT years of weight fluctuation despite a ongoing battle.
Popular diets (Weight Watchers, Keto, low carb, calorie control, etc) simply don't work for the vast majority of people. Or more accurately, they are modestly effective for a while, but after a year or so the benefits are largely gone.

Before working with Sophie I was struggling with yoyo dieting a lot. I'd have this burst of enthusiasm, but I would never really follow it through for any length of time. I would say to myself, “forget it, it’ll be all right, I'll just have a bit of this now and I’ll get back to it later.”
When I was in the car, I could go from one petrol station to another and buy crisps and chocolate.
Since I started working with Sophie I’ve lost over a stone and a half and I don’t think it’s been that hard.
Now, I’m more enthusiastic about and organised with meals. I feel healthier because of what I’m eating and also because of what I’m not eating. As for the crisps and chocolate I just don’t do that anymore. The dizzy spells have also stopped.
I want to continue to losing weight, but to do it in a way that’s sustainable. I think the way that Sophie has helped me with it is sustainable as I’m not hungry, I can eat what I need to eat not to be hungry.

I've spent years gaining a better understanding of human behaviour and how the brain works - its plasticity is remarkable. You can achieve your goals.
All these things generally happen outside our awareness, and it's very difficult to 'see' ourselves from the outside, which is why it's so important to get a coach.
We often find it hard to understand the 'why' behind our impulses (snacking), and our behaviour.
I'll help you to understand the 'why' so that you can become aware of it. Because you can't change something you're not aware of.
We're creatures of habit, and we're afraid of the unknown. That makes it difficult to change.

As of your first session you should feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders, just by talking about your problems and getting them out into the open.
After that, it all depends on your commitment and regularity.
If you show up every week, you'll start to feel good and see changes as soon as the first month. If all goes well, after a few months you won't need me anymore!
